Introduction
Frederic Goudy was star of the most prolific type designers of the 20th century. in spite of the slow and late start, he designed over a hundred typefaces in his lifetime. [He counted each italic to be a separate face]. Some of his most successful typefaces include Kennerley [1911] Goudy hoary Style [1915] and Goudy Modern [1918] and Deepdene [1929-34]. Goudy is so highly regarded because of his passion and the situation that he was 30 years of age when he displace his graduation exercise alphabet that was bought by a foundry and disgorge into type; he was forty six years grey-haired when he stopped being an amateur and became a maestro type designer; and over sixty years when he learnt to make his own matrices.
The Beginning
Frederic Goudy was born on March 8, 1865, in Bloomington, Illinois. As a child, Goudy was extremely ordinary and no one time could have predicted that he would go on to become one of the most celebrated designers of this century. Frederic Goudy had a series of false starts. His number 1 line of business was that of a book-keeper in his fathers real-estate procedure in Highmore.
