King Billy is a poem that revolves around the life and death of a Glasgow Gang leader in the 1960s called Billy Fullerton. It in addition looks at the poverty at this time in Glasgow. It as well as conveys that huddled is linked to gang members huddled together for a gang meeting.
The image of the wreath blown from its grave gives the effectual feeling of loneliness and not fitting in because, as a bright red, white, blue and gold object it stands come out and looks out of place in the dark, gloomy place, which arouses our sympathy for whoever it is that has died. The use of word dripping wreath also conveys the idea of sectarianism and also violence. The first verse is a very contrasting style from the second.
Morgan starts the second verse in a funny way by using the word bareheaded, so bringing attention to it and emphasising the respect being shown, which, as we discovery out later, does not seem to fit in with the sorting of man being talked about.
