Harlem was the setting, the time was the mid-sixties; racial unfairness was on the forefront of political topics. Negative racial bias was considered hotshot(a) and focused largely on the scrutiny that Blacks were substandard to Whites. racial discrimination was an issue of inequity that finally ignited one of the largest riots and periods of unrest known in the United States. In these churning times, many Black poets and writers expressed their thoughts and frustrations with words in the formula of poems and short stories. The exasperation shows in their words, the words are darksome and come from the heart. Many Black writers experienced this arduous era from a very young age, and could share a birds-eye view of the social injustice they experienced in near origins.
As the government loosened legal barriers to Black opportunities, utmost ranking political figures helped generate a new prejudice. collectible to Blacks inability to benefit from new freedoms and opportunities, they were then considered lazy and lacked indigence to find success. Instead of addressing the real issues for failure, Whites argued over the lack of pauperism by Blacks. This reaction caused even more cultural bias, which take to an even greater racial division.
The Black culture came a long way from the times of slavery, where their original culture was stripy from them, they longed for an identity. Harlem was just that place, a place to call home, an urban culture, an identity. Whites becalm terrorized them and disrupted their lives even in their own neighborhoods, but that was currently to change.
Harlem was a place where Blacks felt at home. Their quest for medicine and a normal way of life was fostered in the creation of theaters that have since become famous and helped create a medical specialty Mecca.
