For the entire generation of people that grew up in the old age that led to the Civil War, William Lloyd send was the voice of Abolitionism. Originally a supporter of colonization, fortress changed his position and became the leader of the rising anti-slavery movement. In 1831, fortress published the first edition of The Liberator. Garrison was not interested in compromise. He founded the New England anti-slavery society the following year.
