Can Humans Change
Life is a dreary, low experience, whose only virtue is its conclusion. There is no peace, no glory, and no joy that set up mask biographys brutal intentions. Man is alone, their creations become their downfall, and the little peeks of happiness that a climb up ar often ripped from them like a rabbits life to the ravenous wolf. What hope has man to change their essence? They are damned from the moment they breathe in lifes polluted air.
This is Mary Shelleys image for life in her novel, Frankenstein. Each page confronts the reader with a deepening since of reverence whose only conclusion leads man down a unhappy path of self-destruction. Shelley leaves no hope. Life weighs on mans soul, beating them down until they regress into the lowest states of humanity. This thesis allow for challenge Shelleys pessimism by showing that man can consciously change their character and disposition, that they are not chained to life as if in prison, but can rise up and elevate themselves above the baseness of life.
To begin it is unavoidable to understanding what character means.
Character represents the unique way a person relates with, thinks and feels about, and perceives and acts towards the things that occur in their life. A persons character is a complex combination of elements that form over the beginning geezerhood of their life, and which manifest as specific aptitudes and susceptibilities. These tendencies or potentialities of character are solidified and augmented by the circumstances of their life.
The ancient opening of human disposition begins with Hippocrates. He categorized humans with four-spot distinct character traits. These four basic temperaments are expounded on by one of Victor Frankensteins earliest inspirations towards the Natural Sciences, Cornelius Agrippa. (Shelley 22).
