Crucible Es suppose
In Arthur moth millers The Crucible, the suspicion of witchery in Salem, Massachusetts consumes the peck of the town with questions and accusations. The theme of this drama is that fear has the power to decree ones actions. This theme ties in well with the Stephen Vincent Benet quote. Persecution follows bigotry and intoleranceâ¦once we light that fire we cannot foresee where it get out end or what it will consume.
An example of a character lighting a fire is Tituba, who countermands persecution by confessing to witchcraft and giving the names of others she said she saw with the devil. Tituba says, And I face and there was Goody Good. She also says Aye, sir, and Goody Osburn. She gives these names to avoid persecution. Tituba expected to save herself so bad that she made up a lie near others to save herself. Now, because of those names Tituba said, that leaves a door open for Abigail and the other girls to confess what they have through with(p) wrong without getting in any kind of trouble. So in conclusion, Tituba lit the fire of superstition around the town.
some other example of lighting the fire can be seen in John Proctors actions.
For instance, Proctor knew having an contact with Abigail was wrong, plainly he did it anyway. In Act one on summon 22 Abigail says Give me a word, John. A soft word. Abigail is dictum show me a sign you still care about me. Proctor responds No, no, Abby. Thats done with. He didnt conceptualize Abigail would have fallen in love with him. Proctor fairish wanted to have a goodtime without anything serious while the affair was happing. The event of the affair caused Abigail to accuse Elizabeth Proctor of witchcraft, just to be with John Proctor. So I believe you can say John Proctor started a fire that couldnt be tamed with Abigail, which ended in the hanging of John Proctor. If you want to get a full essay, order it on our website: Orderessay
